Microsoft expands Entra passkey and identity controls
Some features are generally available while others remain previews or have later rollout dates.
Status: source-checked.
Microsoft’s November Entra update says users can now register a passkey or another passwordless option as their first multifactor authentication method. The rollout continues through February 2027, the company said Friday.
The update also lists Windows Hello for Business and macOS Platform SSO as standalone authentication factors, with rollout beginning in early November. Microsoft describes those features as generally available.
According to Microsoft, other additions, including automated guest lifecycle policies and reports comparing access permissions with intended policy, remain in public preview. The mixed release stages mean the roundup is not a promise that every listed feature is already available to every organization.
