The Interior Department and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service released a review Friday with 29 recommendations for managing national wildlife refuges.
The recommendations address habitat management, hunting and fishing coordination, refuge law enforcement, infrastructure and partnerships. Interior said a related order directs the service to strengthen field operations and expand compatible wildlife-dependent recreation.
The service will use the recommendations to plan implementation and identify the resources and approvals needed for individual actions, the department said. The recommendations do not establish that those changes have already taken effect.
