Windows tests sign-in change allowing PIN entry before biometrics finish
The change is listed for the Experimental channel, not a general Windows release.
Status: source-checked.
Microsoft released Windows 11 Insider Preview builds for its Beta and Experimental channels Friday, with an Experimental-channel change intended to simplify sign-in through Windows Hello.
Under the change, testers no longer have to wait for face or fingerprint recognition to finish before entering a PIN. Microsoft said certain situations, including after a restart, still require the PIN first.
Microsoft also said Future Platforms testers will begin receiving weekly synthetic cumulative updates between regular preview releases. Those updates test delivery services and do not contain new features, according to the announcement.
